Daddy Dilemma

The other day a family had moved in down the street. Since I had children my life has revolved around my children and family, not that I don't love them, I just had been feeling lonely lately. I wasn't actually alone, the house was quite full, but I hadn't gotten to go out and make friends in the longest time. So new neighbors was a great way to start.

Since the kids were in school and my baby girl Thyme was napping, I took the opportunity to visit the new neighbors. It was a beautiful little house surrounded by a variety of flowers. I bounced up onto the porch, excited to meet new people, and rang the bell.

A bubbly blue woman dressed as a mime answered the door.
"Well, hello, there!"

Her name was Java, an aspiring mime who had two children of her own. She introduced me to her husband, Atoll, who was also in the performing arts.

Her son was at school, but I got to meet her little girl, who entertained herself by singing to her doll.

"Sof' kitteh, warm kitteh, widdle baw o' fur. Happeh kitteh, sweepeh kitteh, pu' pu' pu'."

-----
After Java excused herself to change into her regular clothes and wash off her makeup, we chatted for a while.
It turns out we had quite alot in common. Most notably she also had an affinity for furry little creatures. Maybe even more than me. They have 8 cats!!

We also set up a play date for her son and my three little rascals. I was quite happy that the kids would be having a play date. The twins didn't associate much outside of the family, if they even wandered outside of their twin bubble. And my little Mojo was a little loner and spent most of his time with his turtle. A little socialization will be good for them!

-----------------

Minty answered the door when Java's son Malibu came for the play date.

"So, I guess you're Malibu."
"Yup"
"..."
"..."
"Well, come in, I guess."

"You're hair's weird." Mint was never one to sugar coat or censor herself, so it came as no surprise that some of her first few words to the boy were blunt.

"What are you talkin' 'bout?! My hair is awesome." His response took me by surprise, it wasn't the usual reaction Mint's honesty got from other children.

"Haha. I like you. We're gonna be friends."
"Ok."

-------------

"...Pep?" Cosmo began as we played dominoes one evening.
"Yeah, babe?"
"I'm worried about the kids." He started pouting then. And although it was worrisome it was also adorable.
"Why?"
"They're growing up too fast!" I started laughing then.
"They are Peppy! Mojo's already 4! Rosie's in ballet and she's been spending alot of time with that boy, Onyx. Mint's been pining over that neighbor boy. It's like they already have boyfriends! It's making me feel old."

"Haha. you're tiny."

I giggled at his frantic rambling. "First off, you're 33. You're not old. Second the girls are 6, they still think boys have cooties. We don't have to worry about boyfriends or girlfriends for at least 10 more years."
"Only 10?" He pouted again.
"Pep?"
"Yes?"
"I don't know how to play this game."

-----------------

Thursday. 4:32pm.

Father's journal. I don't know what the star date is.
About to implement reconnaissance mission. Don't have much faith in it, but it's worth a try.
Target: Rosemary Swirl Firework.

I walked into the living room to spot Rosemary doing her homework, and the cats spazzing over a toy.
Target acquired.

I sat down next to her. "Need any help Rosie?"
"Um, I guess." She continued to jot down addition problems.

I actually helped for a few minutes, then I broached the subject. "So, Rose, your friend Onyx..."
"What about him Dad?"
My brain died for a moment and I blurted out "He's purple."
She cocked an eyebrow at me. "I.. know that Dad."
"Heh, that's not what I meant to say. How do you feel about Onyx?"
She went back to work then. "The same way I feel about all of my other friends."
Target is being uncooperative.

"Do you believe in cooties?"
She let out an exasperated sigh then, obviously fed up with my efforts. "I think I got this now, Dad."
"I'm just asking becau-"
"I got this Dad."
"Alright, I'm going."

Mission failed.

Heir Vote!

The first generation isn't quite over, but for the next chapter I need to know the heir. The cat heir will also be chosen now for convenience. *Also note that appearance is subject to change.

First up...

Rosemary Firework

Rosemary is a an ambitious girl. She knows exactly what she wants and how she'll get it, even if she is only 6. Rose wants to be a magician. Not just a magician but the berry best magician ever. And she knows she will be.

Mint Floss Firework

Mint is a free girl, ready to try anything and everything. Mint speaks her mind whether it's nice or not. She doesn't really know what she wants to do yet, something that bugs her twin. Right now she just wants to have fun and practice driving on the couch.

Mojito Boom Firework

Mojo is a mellow guy, going wherever the flow(or his mom) takes him. Being the middle child and an easy going fella he doesn't get as much attention as his rambunctious sisters. But he loves his parents just the same and enjoys doing stunts for his parents, whether safe or dangerous.

** Thyme Ruby will not be in the running since she doesn't have enough green for my tastes. She will be having a bachelorette challenge when the time comes.

Catacy Poll

Sage Firework

Only daughter of Candy Cane and Temple, Sage is one of the boys. She greatly resembles her twin brother, Spearmint.

Spearmint Firework

Spearmint was the first born, and he makes sure you know it. He has a fondness for toilet water and the dust bunnies under the couch.

Pillow Mint Firework

Pillow is the baby of the furry side of the family and is happy just to be alive. He loves to run all over the house but his favorite thing to do is playing with his dear mother.

Vote for both an heir and a cat heir on the left!

In a moment

Whenever we hear the saying time flies, we always just see it as an overused cliche. But I learned quickly that it wasn't just a saying. Sure the first year dragged on in a blur of working to get financially stable, but once Cosmo got a huge promotion and I got a contract with a museum things really started to fly.

It all started one day in the bathroom. Yes the bathroom.

My face was buried in the toilet yet again. Never eating bacon cooked by Cosmo again.

But he wasn't getting sick. Was it something else?

I tried not to focus on any other possibilities; they were just too frightening to think about. Not that I didn't want kids but I just wasn't ready.

Cosmo knocked at the bathroom door then. "Peppy... Do you think we could talk? When you're done in there."

Another heave and the rest of breakfast came up. "Whatever it is, you'll need to say it in here. I have a feeling I won't be leaving the bathroom any time soon." And then lunch came up.

I could hear the hesitance in his voice. "Um... are you sure about that?"

Another heave. "YES" I had become agitated at that point. Wasn't it obvious that my stomach wasn't done emptying itself?

"Well OK." He opened the door and helped me stand.

"Peppermint Twirl Firework, Will you marry me?"

I made an inhuman noise and tackled him. Then I promptly returned to shoving my face in the toilet.

8 months and 10 days later...

Pregnancy wasn't always easy. I was spending more time getting acquainted with the downstairs toilet the first few months. However, one day in my second month, Cosmo and I had gone out for a walk and I found a feathered friend.

In my second trimester I spent most of my time in the massage chair. Not that I'm complaining.

My third trimester was spent satisfying cravings. Mostly fudgicles. I ate more than my share of fudgicles.

But I'll have to end my story here; I'm a little busy at the moment.

"COSM-OWWW!!"

_____________________________

Out of that painful 18 hour delivery came a surprise. We only expected one little girl. What we didn't know was that her twin had been hiding behind her.

We welcomed Mint Floss and Rosemary to the family.

And not even 3 hours later another, furrier set of twins joined the family. Our cats, Temple and Candy Cane had a boy and girl, Spearmint and Sage.

~Hey, hey, you two. Privacy, please? ~

~Mama, I fall. ~

~That came out of me? ~

About 2 years later Cosmo and I agreed to try for another baby. We had gotten the hang of raising twins and four cats, so it seemed the right time to continue adding to our family.

We were successful since 9 months later came Mojito Boom. Our first little boy.

2 years later...

Our baby girls had just turned five and started kindergarten, making me feel that time definitely was flying. They became so rambunctious and had grown into their own personalities.

My little Mojito was becoming a big boy of 3 years old. And so were Spearmint and Sage.

Candy Cane had given birth to another little boy, Pillow Mint.

Cosmo and I hadn't been trying for a baby but we hadn't protected against it either. So neither of us was surprised when we found out another Firework was on the way. Especially after the time I barfed in the daisies.

And now we have four children, the twins (Mint Floss and Rosemary), Mojito Boom, and our newest addition, Thyme Ruby. And of course, our furry family.

Sorry it may be a bit rushed but I want to move on to the next generation soon. An heir poll for both the kids and cats will be up soon since I need to know the heir to do the next chapter.
